Fuel Injection Supply Manifold

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

WARNING
Do not smoke or have lit tobacco or an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable substances are always present during such procedures and may accidentally be ignited, causing possible personal injury or vehicle damage.

WARNING
Any fuel in the fuel system is still under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before repairing or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel, which can result in personal injury or a fire hazard.

CAUTION
If the supply manifold is used as a leveraging device, damage can occur to the supply manifold. Be careful when working around the supply manifold.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel pressure.
3. Remove the intake manifold.
4. Disconnect the fuel tube and the fuel injector electrical connectors.
5. Remove the bolts from the fuel tube.
6. Remove the bolt and fuel tube assembly.
7. Disconnect the fuel pulse damper vacuum hose.
8. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold.
9. Remove fuel injectors.

To Install:

CAUTION
Use O-ring seals that are made of special fuel-resistant material. Do not use ordinary O-ring seals because they can cause the fuel system to leak. Do not reuse the O-ring seals, install new ones.

NOTE: Lubricate the new O-rings with clean engine oil before installing.

NOTE: Use new fasteners to attach the fuel injection supply manifold.

1. Install new O-rings.
2. Install fuel injectors.
3. Install the fuel injection supply manifold.
   • Torque to 17 ft-lb (23 Nm).
4. Connect the fuel pulse damper vacuum hose.
5. Install the fuel tube assembly and bolt.
   • Torque to 89 in. lbs. (10 Nm).
6. Install the bolts for the fuel tube.
   • Torque to 53 in. lbs. (6 Nm).
7. Connect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
8. Connect the fuel tube.
9. Install the intake manifold.
10. Pressurize the system and check for leaks.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
