Washer Pump and Reservoir

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

WARNING
Windshield washer fluid contains a poisonous substance called methanol. Failure to observe all warnings on the washer fluid container’s label can result in serious personal injury.

NOTE: Drain the windshield washer reservoir before removing it to prevent spillage.

  1. Disconnect the windshield washer hose from the windshield washer pump.
  2. Disconnect the coolant overflow hose from the engine coolant overflow reservoir and plug the outlet port of the reservoir.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector for the windshield washer reservoir pump.
  4. Move the air filter housing to the side.
  5. Remove the screws and nuts then remove the windshield washer reservoir.

    CAUTION
    Make sure not to damage the rubber grommet when you remove the washer pump from the washer reservoir.

  6. Remove the washer pump from the washer reservoir.

To Install:

NOTE: The windshield washer reservoir and washer pump get serviced independently.

  1. Install the washer pump into the washer reservoir. Be careful not to damage the rubber grommet.
  2. Install the windshield washer reservoir, screws, and nuts.
  3. Move the air filter housing back to its original position.
  4. Connect the electrical connector for the windshield washer reservoir pump.
  5. Connect the coolant overflow hose to the engine coolant overflow reservoir.
  6. Connect the windshield washer hose to the windshield washer pump.
