Selector Lever Cable & Bracket

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Disconnect the transmission shift cable from the transmission column shift selector tube.
2. Disconnect the transmission shift cable from the steering column bracket.
3. Push the rubber grommet and shift cable through the bulkhead.
4. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
5. Disconnect the transmission shift cable from the manual control lever.
6. Take off the clip that prevents the lock tabs from being depressed.
7. Depress the lock tabs to release the transmission shift cable and disconnect the cable from the bracket.
8. Remove the transmission shift cable bracket from the automatic transmission after first removing the bolts.

To Install:

1. Install the transmission shift cable bracket onto the automatic transmission.
   • Torque to 18 ft-lb (25 Nm).
2. Connect the transmission shift cable to the bracket.
3. Install the clip into its original place.
4. Connect the transmission shift cable to the manual control lever. Move the manual lever to OVERDRIVE to do this.
5. Safely lower the vehicle.
6. Place the rubber grommet and shift cable back into their original positions.
7. Connect the transmission shift cable to the steering column bracket.
8. Connect the transmission shift cable to the transmission column shift selector tube.
9. Make any necessary adjustments to the transmission shift cable.
