To Remove:
- Remove the pump pulley.
- Disconnect the power steering pressure hose. Throw away the seal.
- Disconnect the power steering return hose and return line hose.
- Remove the bolts and the power steering pump.
To Install:
- Install the power steering pump and bolts.
- Torque to 35 ft-lb (48 Nm).
- Connect the power steering return hose and return line hose.
- Use the Teflon® seal replacer set (211-D027) to install a new seal on the power steering pressure hose.
- Connect the power steering pressure hose.
- Torque to 35 ft-lb (48 Nm).
- Install the pump pulley.
- Fill and test the system for leaks.
To Remove:
- Remove the engine cooling fan.
- Loosen the power steering pump pulley bolts.
- Turn the tensioner counterclockwise and remove the belt from the power steering pump pulley.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley.
- Disconnect the power steering return line hose at the power steering fluid reservoir and let the system drain.
- Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
- Disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose from the power steering pump.
- Remove the power steering pump.
To Install:
- Install the power steering pump and bolts.
- Torque to 18 ft-lb (25 Nm).
- Connect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump.
- Use the Teflon® seal installer set (211-D027) to install a new seal on the power steering pressure hose.
- Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
- Torque to 48 ft-lb (65 Nm).
- Connect the power steering return line hose to the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Install the power steering pump pulley and bolts and only hand-tighten the bolts.
- Install the drive belt.
- Torque the power steering pump pulley bolts to 18 ft-lb (25 Nm).
- Install the engine cooling fan.
- Fill and check the system for leaks.
To Remove:
CAUTION
Be careful to prevent contaminants from entering the power steering system during the repair procedure because they can cause premature failure of the power steering components.
NOTE: Do not let power steering fluid touch the accessory drive belt.
- Use an appropriate suction device to drain the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Remove the engine cooling fan.
- Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise and remove the accessory drive belt then remove the power steering pump pulley and bolts.
- Compress the clamp and disconnect the power steering supply hose from the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Disconnect the power steering pressure line from the power steering pump.
- Compress the clamp and disconnect the power steering fluid supply hose from the power steering pump.
- Remove the bolts and the power steering pump.
CAUTION
Any time the power steering pressure line is disconnected from the power steering pump, a new Teflon® O-ring seal must be installed.
To Install:

Any time the power steering pressure line is disconnected from the power steering pump, a new Teflon® O-ring seal must be installed.
- Install the power steering pump and bolts.
- Torque to 18 ft-lb (25 Nm).
- Connect the power steering pressure line and use the Teflon® Seal Installer Set 211-D027 to install a new Teflon® O-ring seal on the power steering pressure line.
- Torque to 48 ft-lb (65 Nm).
- Install the power steering pump pulley and bolts.
- Torque to 18 ft-lb (25 Nm).
NOTE: Do not let power steering fluid touch the accessory drive belt.
- Install the engine cooling fan.
- Fill the power steering system with the correct type and amount of fluid. Check for leaks.
