DRAIN AND REFILL

The oil should be changed at 7,500 miles (12,077 km), then at 30,000 mile (48,309 km) intervals. Proceed as described below:

  1. Park the car on a level surface. Set the parking brake and block the wheels.
  2. Position a drain pan beneath the rear axle/differential and remove the drain (lower) plug, using the proper size socket or ratchet and extension. Allow the oil to empty into the container.
  3. Clean and reinstall the drain plug.
  4. Unscrew the filler (upper) plug, using the proper size socket or ratchet and extension, then add the appropriate grade of lubricant, depending upon ambient temperature.
  5. Fill to capacity, until the level reaches the bottom of the filler hole. See the Capacities chart at the end of this section.
  6. Clean and reinstall the filler plug.
  7. Remove the drain pan and unblock the wheels.
