Under "normal'' operating conditions, manual transmission oil should be changed at 7,500 miles (12,077 km), then at 30,000 mile (48,309 km) intervals. Proceed in the following manner:
CAUTION
Be careful not to come in contact with any components of the exhaust system.
Severe burns could result.
CAUTION
The EPA warns that prolonged contact with used engine oil may cause a
number of skin disorders, including cancer! You should make every effort
to minimize your exposure to used engine oil. Protective gloves should
be worn when changing the oil. Wash your hands and any other exposed skin
areas as soon as possible after exposure to used engine oil. Soap and
water, or waterless hand cleaner should be used.
NOTE: The gear oil must be pumped into the transmission. There are a number of inexpensive pumps (hand operated or drill driven) on the market to do this. Some gear oil containers have their own pumps. The best way to add transmission oil, if you do not have a regular pump, is to fill a bulb siphon (turkey baster) with oil, insert it into the filler plug hole and squeeze it until oil just starts to drip out of the filler hole.
Under "normal'' operating conditions, manual transmission oil should be changed at 60,000 mile (96,000 km) intervals, or every 60 months, whichever comes first. Proceed in the following manner:
