The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is located on a plate attached to the upper left hand corner of the instrument panel, and is visible through the windshield.
The model plate and the chassis number are located on the right and left sides of the underhood firewall, respectively, on the 1979 model. On the 1980–89 RX-7, both the model plate and the chassis number are located on the right side of the underhood firewall.
The motor vehicle safety certification label indicates that the vehicle has passed all safety requirements in force at the time of manufacture and is located on the driver's side door jamb.
