- Disconnect all sensor wiring from the radiator. Detach the coolant reservoir
hose.
- Unbolt and remove the cooling fan and drive assembly.
- From beneath the car, remove the gravel shield. Place a suitable container
beneath the lower radiator hose, then remove the hose and allow the coolant
to drain.
- Disconnect the heater hose at the bottom of the radiator, and disconnect
the upper radiator hose.
- On automatic transmission equipped models, disconnect the automatic transmission
fluid cooling hoses at the lower left side of the radiator. (Do not confuse
them with the engine oil cooling hoses.)
- Remove the radiator shroud, mounting bolts and brackets, then remove the
radiator.
To install:
- Position the radiator, then install the brackets, mounting hardware and
shroud.
- If equipped, connect the automatic transmission cooling lines.
- Connect the upper radiator, heater and lower hoses. Install the gravel shield.
- Install the cooling fan and drive assembly.
- Connect the coolant reservoir hose, then engage all sensor and electrical
wiring. Fill the cooling system to the proper level with a suitable coolant
mixture. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
- Position a suitable drain pan under the radiator, then loosen the drain
plug and empty the radiator.
- Remove the cooling fan from the water pump pulley.
- Remove the air inlet pipe.
- Disconnect both cables from the battery, then unfasten and remove the battery
and bracket.
- Disconnect the heater hose and upper hose from the radiator.
- Disconnect the coolant level sensor and the radiator switch connectors.
- If equipped with an automatic transmission, disconnect the transmission
fluid cooling hoses from the bottom of the radiator, and plug the ends to
prevent leakage.
- Remove the radiator and the radiator cowling.
To install:
- Install the radiator cowling and the radiator. Leave the cowling bolts snug.
- Connect the transmission cooling hoses, if equipped.
- Connect the radiator switch and coolant level sensor connectors.
- Connect the upper radiator and heater hoses to the radiator.
- Install the battery bracket and battery. Connect the battery cables.
- Install and connect the air inlet pipe.
- Install the cooling fan onto the water pump pulley, and tighten the mounting
bolts. Check the clearance between the blades of the cooling fan and the fan
shroud. If the clearance is not sufficient to allow the blades to turn without
contacting the cowling, adjust the cowling as required, then properly tighten
the retaining bolts.
- Fill the cooling system to the proper level with a suitable coolant mixture.
Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
