TESTING

Operation Test
  1. Connect a jumper wire to the yellow test connector, as illustrated.
  2. Loosen the fuel filler cap.
  3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
  4. Listen for the operational sound of the fuel pump.
  5. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  6. If no sound is heard, check the voltage at the fuel pump connector (LO) wire and a ground. Normal voltage is approximately 12 volts DC (battery voltage).
  7. If the voltage is normal and the pump will not operate, it should be replaced.
  8. Disconnect the jumper wire, and turn the ignition switch OFF.
Volume Test
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure, as described earlier in this section.
  2. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel return pipe. Position an approved gasoline container with a capacity of at least 1 12 pts. near the return hose.
  3. Connect a jumper wire to the yellow test connector, as illustrated.
  4. Direct the fuel hose into the container, then turn the ignition switch ON for 10 seconds.
  5. Check the quantity of the collected fuel; the normal feeding capacity is approximately 190–200cc in 10 seconds.
  6. If the collected quantity is not within specifications, check the fuel filter and fuel line.
  7. Disconnect the jumper wire, and turn the ignition switch OFF.
