TESTING

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure, as previously described.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Disconnect the main fuel hose from the main fuel line.
4. Connect a suitable fuel pressure gauge.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
6. Connect the terminals of the yellow check connector with a jumper wire (see illustration). Turn the ignition switch ON to operate the fuel pump.
7. Check that the fuel pressure is within the following specifications:

   Fuel Pump Pressure:

   • 1984–85 — 49.8–71.1 psi (343–490 kPa)
   • 1986–89 except Turbo — 64–85.3 psi (441–588 kPa)
   • 1986–89 Turbo — 49.8–71.1 psi (343–490 kPa)
