Windshield Wiper Arm

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

The wiper arm is held in place either with a screw which threads directly into the wiper arm drive shaft or a nut which screws onto the end of the shaft.

NOTE: Note the angle of the wiper arm, so that it can be installed in the same position on the linkage assembly's output shaft.

  1. Unfasten the screw or nut, then pull the wiper arm off the linkage assembly's output shaft.

    To install:

  2. Properly position the wiper arm over the splines of the linkage assembly's output shaft, then fasten the screw or nut. The wiper arm/blade assemblies on the 1988–89 626/MX-6 and the 1986–89 RX-7 are identified by letters on the portion of the arm that connects to the wiper linkage. The driver's side arm is marked DL and the passenger's side is marked PL. Make sure that they are installed in their original positions. The wiper arms are not interchangeable.

NOTE: For more information on windshield wiper service, refer to Section 1 of this manual.
