- Raise and support the front end on jackstands.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley nut.
- Loosen the drive belt tensioner pulley and remove the belt.
- Remove the pulley from the pump. On 1988–89 626, MX-6 and 929 and
1986–89 RX-7, use tool 49–W023–585 or equivalent to hold
the pulley stationary while the pulley lock bolt is removed.
- Position a drain pan under the pump and disconnect the hoses.
- Remove the bracket-to-pump bolts and remove the pump from the car.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Adjust the belt to give 1⁄2 in.
deflection along its longest straight run. Bleed the system.
