Brake Disc

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Properly support the vehicle on stands and remove the rear wheels. Check the lateral run-out of the disc with a dial indicator. Refer to the Brake Specifications chart at the end of this section for run-out limits.
  2. Remove the bolts attaching the caliper bracket, and remove the caliper and bracket as an assembly, and wire it to the rear spring or strut.
  3. Fully release the parking brake. Remove the disc attaching screws, install them into the tapped holes about 90 degrees from their normal position, and screw them in evenly to force the disc off the axle shaft flange. Remove screws from disc.

    To install:

  4. Position the disc, aligning identification marks on axle shaft flange and disc. Install the mounting screws. If a new disc is being used, install it in each of the four possible positions and check lateral run-out with a dial indicator. Install the disc in the position in which run-out is minimized, then matchmark the disc and axle flange.
