Brake Lever

ADJUSTMENT

  1. Adjust the rear brake shoes.
  2. Unfasten the screw(s) and remove the brake lever covers or console.

    Fig. 2: . . . and remove the parking brake lever covers

    Fig. 3: Remove the retaining clip . . .

    Fig. 4: . . . then use a screwdriver to turn the adjustment nut

  3. Adjust the front cable with the nut or screw located at the rear of the parking brake handle. Use the following list to determine how many notches are required to engage the parking brake.
  4. Operate the parking brake several times; check to see that the rear wheels do not drag when it is fully released. Also, make sure that the brake warning light illuminates when the lever is pulled up one notch, but goes out when it is fully released.
  5. Install the brake lever covers or console.
