- Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts. Raise the vehicle and support safely. Remove
the rear wheels.
- Remove the disc brake caliper and support it with a piece of rope or wire
to avoid straining the brake hose.
- Remove the rotor disc from the wheel hub. If the disc is stubborn, remove
the cap from the adjusting screw and turn the adjuster to increase the shoe
clearance.
- Disconnect the upper and lower return springs, anchor clips and pins from
the brake shoes. Remove the brake shoes and adjuster, then disconnect the
operating lever from the parking brake cable.
To install:
- Apply grease to the projections on the backing plate, adjuster and operating
lever.
- Connect the operating lever to the parking brake cable so that the arrow
stamped on the lever is pointing towards the front of the vehicle.
- Screw in the threaded portion of the adjuster completely. Install the brake
shoes, pins, clips and springs. Place the adjuster between the brake shoes
so that the threaded part is facing towards the front on the left wheel and
towards the rear on the right wheel.
- Install the rotor and caliper.
- Adjust the parking brake as described below. Mount the rear wheels and lower
the vehicle.
