Chassis Maintenance

Complete chassis maintenance should include an inspection of all rubber suspension bushings, lubrication of all body hinges, as well inspection of the front suspension components and steering linkage.

Chassis greasing should be performed every 7,500 miles (12,000 km) for most vehicles. Greasing can be performed with a commercial pressurized grease gun or at home by using a hand-operated grease gun. Wipe the grease fittings clean before greasing in order to prevent the possibility of forcing any dirt into the component.

Check the steering, driveshaft and front suspension components for grease fittings. There are far less grease points on the modern vehicle chassis than there were on vehicles of yesteryear.

A water resistant long life grease that meets Mazda's specification should be used for all chassis greasing applications.
