AIR GAP ADJUSTMENT

Air gap adjustment is possible on 1987–1988 2.6L engines.

  1. Using a wrench on the crankshaft pulley nut, turn the distributor shaft until one of the high points on the reluctor is aligned with the pickup coil face.
  2. Loosen the set screws and move the pickup coil until the gap between it and the signal rotor is 0.8mm, measured with a brass or plastic feeler gauge.
  3. Tighten the set screws and recheck the gap.
