Electric Fuel Pump

TESTING

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the main fuel hose and connect a pressure gauge to it.

  3. Connect the negative battery cable. Connect a jumper wire between the B and D terminals of the fuel pump control unit.
  4. Turn the ignition switch ON and check the fuel pressure. It should be 2.8–3.6 psi.
  5. If the fuel pressure is not as specified, replace the fuel pump.
  6. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  7. Remove the fuel pressure gauge and reconnect the main fuel hose. Remove the jumper wire from the fuel pump control unit.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.

    NOTE: The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, attached to the tank sending unit assembly.
