Windshield Wiper Motor

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Pickup
  1. Remove the wiper arm/blade assembly. Note that the arms are different. Don't confuse them.
  2. Remove the rubber seal from the leading edge of the cowl.
  3. Unbolt and remove the cowl.
  4. Remove the access hole covers.
  5. Remove the bolts holding the wiper shaft drives.
  6. Matchmark the position of the wiper crank arm in relation to the face of the wiper motor. Disconnect the wiper linkage from the wiper motor crank arm.
  7. Remove the wiper linkage.
  8. Unbolt and remove the wiper motor. Disconnect the wiring harness.
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure that the parked height of the wiper arms, measured from the blade tips to the windshield molding is 0.787 inch (20mm). Tighten the arm retaining nuts to 8–10 ft. lbs. (11–14 Nm).

FRONT
  1. Remove the wiper arms.
  2. Remove the drive link nuts from the top of the cowl.
  3. Working under the hood, disconnect the battery ground cable.
  4. Remove the motor and linkage mounting bolts and lift out the assembly.
  5. After removal, you can separate the linkage from the motor. If you don't have to, don't remove the motor arm from the motor. The position of the arm on the motor shaft controls the automatic park position.
  6. Installation is the reverse of removal. When installing the wiper arms, make sure that the at-rest position gives a gap of 30mm between the blade tips and the lower windshield molding.
