On all except Navajo, adjust the power brake booster pushrod clearance as
follows: Install clearance adjusting tool 49 F043 001 or equivalent on the
rear of the master cylinder. Turn the adjusting bolt until it bottoms in the
pushrod hole in the piston. Apply 19.7 in.Hg vacuum to the power brake booster
with a vacuum pump. Invert the clearance adjusting tool and place it on the
power brake booster. Turn the pushrod locknut until there is no clearance
between the tool and the pushrod.
On the Navajo, measure the distance between the outer end of the booster
pushrod and the front face of the booster assembly. The distance should be
0.995 inch (25.3mm). Turn the pushrod adjusting screw in or out until the
distance is as specified.
