Transmission

On manual transmissions, the identification number is located on a plate attached to the main transmission case. On the plate you find the assigned part number, serial number and bar code used for inventory purposes. On B Series truck and Navajo automatic transmissions, the identification number is stamped on a plate that hangs from the lower left extension housing bolt. On MPV automatic transmissions, the identification number is stamped on a plate that is bolted to the side of the transmission.

The tag identifies when the transmission was built, it's code letter and model number.
