Speakers

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

WARNING
Never operate the radio with one of the speaker disconnected. Damage to the radio can occur.

Door Mounted Speakers

Fig. 3: Disengage the door mounted speaker wiring connector and remove from the vehicle

  1. Remove the door trim panel.
  2. If necessary, peel away the plastic inner liner.
  3. Remove the speaker attaching screws.
  4. Pull the speaker out from the door frame and disconnect the wire harness plug.
  5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
Body Mounted Rear Speakers
B SERIES PICK-UP AND NAVAJO MODELS
  1. On B Series Pick-up models, remove the four speaker grille attaching screws and remove the grille.
  2. On Navajo models, gently pry the speaker grille from the trim panel.
  3. On CabPlus models, remove the four speaker mounting screws.
  4. Pull the speaker out from the trim panel and disconnect the wire harness plug.
  5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. To remove a body mounted speaker, first remove the grille attaching screws . . .

    . . . then pull the grille from the trim panel

    Remove the four speaker mounting screws . . .

    . . . then pull the speaker out . . .

    . . . and disconnect the wire harness plug from the back

MPV MODELS
  1. Remove the rear interior side trim.
  2. Remove the three speaker mounting screws.
  3. Carefully pull the speaker out and disconnect the wire harness plug.
  4. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
Dash Mounted Speakers (1994–95 MPV only)

Fig. 5: . . . then remove the lower cover end mounting screw

Fig. 6: Remove the lower dash panel cover mounting screws

Fig. 7: Carefully pull away the lower dash cover . . .

Fig. 8: . . . then unplug the wire from the lower dash cover speaker, loosen the mounting fasteners and remove from the vehicle

NOTE: This procedure applies to both right and left side dash mounted speakers.

  1. Remove the dashboard end panel by carefully prying outward to disengage the retaining clips.
  2. Remove all of the dashboard lower panel mounting screws.
  3. Carefully pull the lower panel outward and unplug the speaker wiring connector.
  4. Remove the speaker mounting fasteners and remove from the vehicle.
  5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
